My Story
A story about how I took the unconventional route and found a world of disempowered women.
My obsession with natural health and learning about the body started when I was just 15 yrs old. I had developed a passion for nutrition and was swept up in the “I Quit Sugar” trend and the world of low-tox living. At the time I was struggling with fatigue, irregular menstrual cycles, heavy periods and digestive issues so my mum booked me in to see the local naturopath.
Little did I know, naturopathy was going to change my life.
Mum and I entered the low-lit room and I was immediately embraced by the nurturing and warm nature of the naturopath. She thoroughly asked me about my symptoms and performed iridology. She started to explain why I was feeling the way I was and quickly whipped up a bottle of liquid herbs to help me. By the end of the hour, I was so intrigued by her knowledge and one thing was clear - I wanted to know what she knew!!
That was the day I knew I wanted to become a naturopath.
By 19, I had enrolled into my naturopathy degree ready to learn more.
Within a few months of being immersed in study, I became aware that most of the women I was studying with shared this hunger for knowledge and understanding about their bodies. I started to realise that most of the women had been led to this degree because they were suffering from chronic health symptoms and felt disempowered by the medical system.
I found this ENLIGHTENING.
Here were so many women of all ages who had abandoned their previous careers, put their children in daycare, overcome the people who questioned their decision to study natural medicine, and committed themselves to a 4 year degree and 5 figure HECS debt just to find the answers to their own health issues.
That’s was when I realised we had a crisis of women’s health issues that was largely caused from a lack of education about how our female bodies worked.
We weren’t taught it in school.
We weren’t being taught it from our doctors.
And we were told not to trust the information available to us on the internet.
Women were being forced to undertake a whole DEGREE in order to access the education they needed to heal.
This shouldn’t be the price women have to pay in order to get proper health education about how their bodies work and how to look after them.
As I entered my final year of study and started seeing patients in student clinic this was reinforced. I found myself explaining and educating my clients about the same core nutrition principles, explaining the same biochemical pathways and witnessing more women hungry for this information too.
Additionally, I started to realise that although I was giving my clients this information and although the other students naturopaths had all of the information they needed to heal, there were still so many who struggled to make the changes.
And finally that was when I understood the wider problem.
Even when women seek the education they need about their bodies, they struggle to apply it and embody it in their daily lives.
The stressors of daily life, being a student, having a demanding job, having bills to pay and having an endless list of responsibilities as a modern-day woman made it hard to work with the information they’d been given.
In an age of information overload where everyone is constantly in a rush to get somewhere and we are being brainwashed daily by Big Pharma, Big Food and big corporate systems, looking after your health as a woman has never been harder.
Women have been DISEMPOWERED by a lack of access to health EDUCATION and a lack of support to actually EMBODY this in their daily lives.
But it’s time to create change.
Let’s address the hunger for health education.
Let’s empower women to make sustainable changes.
Let’s get women connected with their bodies again.
A woman who knows their body and is empowered to live better will no longer be a victim to the pitfalls of society and our health care system and therefore will no longer have to sacrifice her wellness in order to keep up with the modern world.
Let’s live in a world where health education is prioritised so that we understand and love our body, embrace our natural rhythms and reconnect with our inner wisdom to create our own wellness from a place of empowerment.
Let’s empower women to embody wellness through education.

What is a naturopath? A naturopath is someone who uses a variety of modalities to restore health and treat the root cause of dis-ease. We believe that every living thing has an innate ability to heal especially when we remove the barriers to healing and provide the body with optimal support. As a naturopath, I am trained in holistic nutrition, herbal medicine and lifestyle medicine to support your health and wellbeing. Read more on my blog here.
Why am I a passionate naturopath? Throughout my studies, my confidence developed in the amazing benefits of natural medicine. Learning about nutrition and herbal medicine was empowering and has supported me to live with optimal health and wellbeing. Naturopathy has the ability to meet people where they are at on their health journey, to provide individualised advice that addresses the whole person. After all, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts - we mustn’t treat any part of the body in isolation as every cell is connected.
What conditions can naturopathy support?
Any condition, big or small can often be supported with nutrition, herbal medicine and lifestyle strategies.
If you have symptoms that are bothering you and are affecting your quality of life, you should consider naturopathy. If you want to optimise your health and wellbeing and help prevent future disease, naturopathy can support you.
